Context

The site is prominently located at the heart of Partington Town Centre, directly across from the local shopping centre and was previously occupied by a Primary Care Trust.

Redeveloping the site was seen as significant in terms of the redevelopment of the town itself due to the potential impact on the sense of arrival to the town.

Design

The scheme directly addresses the approach to the town and presents a continuous built form to the perimeter, including as it steps up to 3 storey massing and turns the corner at a roundabout.

Requirements for the development of the site had to be carefully balanced to deliver a successful scheme, namely

• Significant presence towards the roundabout
• Provision of adequate car parking
• Provision of suitable private amenity space
• Continuity of massing to the perimeter
• High quality, contemporary design

To achieve this, we actively engaged with the planning authority to deliver a scheme which satisfied all requirements and the design approach taken delivers a contemporary scheme that sits well within its town centre context and provides the impact on the approach into the town.  The homes themselves have been specifically designed to help this scheme turn the corner and help to deliver a strong sense of place.
