Project location: 92 Mersey Drive, Whitefield
Client: Onward Homes
Contractor: Watson Construction Ltd
Type: Residential
Amount: 27 Dwellings
Context
The site is situated in a residential area and was previously occupied by The Lord Clive pub, which was demolished and the site cleared to provide new residential dwellings. The site is bounded by housing on 3 sides and the main road to the west.
Design
The development provides a total of 27 one and two bed apartments on the brownfield site. Onward Homes are the owners of the development and are the managers of the scheme.
The new residential block is three storeys tall and is sited in the same location as the former pub. The new building respects the surrounding dwellings and the overlooking distances are designed to meet Bury Council’s requirements. The massing replicates the previous building to minimise the visual impact of the new development from existing surrounding residents.
The development incorporates air source heat pumps and MVHR systems to provide energy efficient space and water heating solutions.
External materials were carefully selected to provide durability, low maintenance and visual interest including brickwork, aluminium window surrounds and fibre cement cladding panels.
